Employers will welcome an updated version of the statutory ACAS code on requests for flexible working

Aimed at helping employers and employees deal with requests for flexible working – and an accompanying explanatory memorandum – the revised code ‘Statutory guidance: ACAS Code of Practice on requests for flexible working’ replaces the previous 2014 code, ‘ACAS Code of Practice on handling in a reasonable manner requests to work flexibly’.

The new code is intended to run alongside new rules about the right to request flexible working generally, due to be brought into force in April 2024. It is accompanied by an explanatory memorandum which covers the purpose, context and potential impact of the new rules.

It is applicable from April 2024 and employers should download the free statutory code and accompanying explanatory memorandum from the GOV.UK website.
